Hope for Writers

Someone asked this question as I taught a group of writers. “What are your credentials to write?” For a second I froze. Credentials?

 
My credentials aren’t typical. I don’t have a degree in journalism. I began to learn the secrets of writing at age ten. My mother, also a writer, drafted me to be her editor. After turning 40, I began writing. Breaking free of caring what people think brought my first publication. Rough critiques helped. A good writing day means I wear mismatched clothes, write non-stop, and sometimes forget to eat.
